Lextract ("the app", "we", "us") is a document scanner that extracts editable text from photos and PDFs using OCR. Your documents are yours. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and the choices you have.

Information the app handles

Documents, photos & extracted text. When you scan or import a file, the image and the recognised text are processed to produce your document. In Offline mode (the default), recognition runs locally with Google ML Kit, and your images and text are never uploaded.

Online mode (optional). If you switch to Online mode, page images are sent to the OCR server configured for the app, processed into text, and returned. Images are used only to perform recognition for you and for no other purpose.

Saved documents & exports. Documents you save, and files you export (TXT/PDF), are stored locally on your device; exports go to your Downloads folder. You can delete them anytime from the Files screen or via "Delete All Documents" in Settings.

Subscriptions & purchases. If you buy a subscription, payment is processed by Google Play Billing, so we never see or store your card details. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status; it receives purchase information and an anonymous app-generated identifier to determine whether your subscription is active.

We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, or precise location, and we never sell your data.

Permissions

  • Camera: to capture documents you want to scan.
  • Photos / Media: to import existing images for scanning.
  • Storage: to save your exported TXT/PDF files to Downloads.

Each permission is requested only when needed for that feature.

Third-party services

  • Google ML Kit: on-device text recognition (offline mode).
  • Google Play Billing: processes subscription payments.
  • RevenueCat: subscription management (privacy policy).
  • Google AdMob: serves ads in the free version (see Advertising below).
  • OCR server: used only in Online mode to recognise page images.

Advertising

The free version of Lextract may display ads provided by Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads, ad partners may access your device's advertising identifier and limited usage signals. You can reset or limit this identifier in your device's settings.

Lextract Pro subscribers see no ads. Upgrading removes all advertising.

Data retention & deletion

Your documents stay on your device until you delete them. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored documents. Online-mode images are processed transiently for recognition and are not retained for any other purpose.

Security

We rely on the platform's standard protections. Because your documents are stored locally, please protect your device with a screen lock.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will appear here with a new "Last updated" date.
